gorgeous day... of course.
gorgeous noontime hike in the heat of
the sun... puddles were evaporating
birds scaling the cliff edges,
playing on the wind currents that the wash and cliffs create.
awesome...

10-20: Oak Creek just east of Back 'o Beyond, Sedona

I have always loved this tree...

there is a small sandy beach right underneath it perfect for a small afternoon meditation. Its one of my favorite spots, and I have seen others meditating there as well, so there is a deffinate "draw" to that little corner of the world.

The tree itself reminds me of one of the Native American's directional trees...

they'd tie or bind trees limbs so that they pointed along paths to destinations...

this definately could be one of those, but I've never heard anyone say that it for sure was.

I asked the tree:

"tree, could you hold some rocks for me for awhile?"

the leafless tree only looked down at me silently.

"I SAY. TREE. WILL YOU HOLD THESE ROCKS FOR ME?"

again only leafless silence.

So I stacked the rocks anyway and had a smoke in the trees bony shadows.

I watched the creek ripple and bend,

I watched the tree sit content just to be.

impervious to the rocks,

impervious to me.

10-20: Buddha Beach, down from Red Rock crossing in Sedona/VOC
on Oak Creek

a really warm day... the heat forced us to the river late.
Went to go to Buddha Beach cause we hadn't been in so long.
Gorgeous as always, almost all of Oak Creek is, all the way up to Flagstaff.
The brilliant greens of the trees juxtaposed against the clear blue sky,
the red rocks, the dark rushing water... Breath taking.

So was the water... still kind of chilly
The wondermutt loved it though, chased fish underwater until she was so tired she could only sit... but her goofy ass still wanted to be in the water so thats where she sat.

10-20: Painted Cave Wash
Lake Montezuma Arizona
3 stacks commemorating Wrigley's 1st attempt at herding cattle.
1 little stack: the tiny blue heeler.
2 bigger stacks the big black bulls chasing her down the wash.

10/20 (Location): about a mile up Sacred Mountain's eastern wash. One of my favorite, lesser know hikes. The wash is full of Native ruins, petroglyphs, even pottery shards. On this day it was still a little overcast and the puddles stayed frozen in the shadows of the red rocks. Magic.
